Terms of Use
Last updated: October 28, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of toBalance (“we”, “us”), an independent developer in California, USA. By using the toBalance app or the website tobalance.app you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What toBalance is
toBalance is a tool for recording your own income and expenses, budgets and savings goals. It is not a bank and not a financial adviser: it does not connect to your bank, does not hold or move money, and does not make payments. The amounts in the app are what you or its helpers entered, so they can differ from your bank’s figures.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use toBalance.
- An account is for one person. Keep access to your sign-in method (your Google or Apple account or your e-mail) safe; anything done with your account is your responsibility.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Delete account.
3. Your data
What you enter belongs to you. You let us store and process it only to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export it to Excel, PDF or a backup file whenever you like. Making backups is your choice; we are not responsible for data you lose by deleting it or your account.
4. AI helpers
Typed phrases, voice, receipts, bank screenshots, the advisor and import help use AI services and work only after you agree to each one. AI can misread a phrase, a photo or a screenshot, so check what it found before you save it. The advisor gives general information based on your own records, not investment, tax, legal or other professional advice; decisions about your money are yours.
AI helpers have fair-use limits. If you reach one, the helper pauses for a while and the rest of the app keeps working.
5. Using the app fairly
Please do not:
- break the law with the app or use it to store other people’s data without their permission;
- try to get into other people’s accounts or our servers, or get around the limits;
- overload the service with automated requests, or copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law allows.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
6. Subscriptions
Some features may need a paid subscription. It is bought through the App Store or Google Play, and Apple or Google charge you, renew and refund it under their terms. A subscription renews automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription by itself. The price and what it includes are shown before you buy.
7. Changes to the app and to these terms
We keep improving toBalance and may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top, and for important changes we will tell you in the app before they apply. Using the app after that means you accept the new terms.
8. No guarantees
toBalance is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, including that the app will always work, be error-free, or that its figures or AI results are accurate.
9. Limits of our liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, or for decisions you make based on the app. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or 10 US dollars if you paid nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. If you got the app from the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its support. Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund its purchase price (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for claims about the app, such as product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US embargo and not on a US list of prohibited parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, except where these terms say otherwise.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This does not take away any rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
